DIY sex toys - you don’t need to spend a fortune  but we won't argue if you do :)

So we love sex toys and adults goods but it is surprising how much you can improvise with things around the house if you put your mind to it. And actually some of those things can be as much fun as and even more kinky than the expensive items we sell here at Kinky Betty’s (Editor - what the hell are you saying you idiot?!)  

DIY Dildos 

Let’s start with an easy one.  OK we all know there are so many things around the house that you use can instead of a dildo, although need to lube them up well of course.  Cucumbers, bananas, courgettes etc the most obvious or even a marrow or butternut squash if so inclined. But how about a black pudding or uncut salami for a meaty treat? Harder objects are more tricky but what about a wooden rolling pin which can be lovely and smooth? Have a look around your own kitchen or garage and you might find something fun. OK not like a beautiful hand-crafted glass dildo but these things can still feel great. 

DIY Vibrators

This is a bit harder but lots of ladies have used an electric toothbrush, which well-targeted works wonders! There are also a plethora of vibrating small massagers designed for non-kinky uses that work as sex toys. I believe the wand which is now adored by millions for bringing mind blowing orgasms started off as the humble Hitachi massage wand for aching shoulders before morphing into the Hitachi magic wand and then the Doxy wand and a host of other specialised sexual wand massagers.  These humble massagers do have risks - I remember my mum saying one Christmas morning to a group of twenty, “Oh look at my new vibrator” when opening her new wrist massager. There was eggnog everywhere from the laughter and snorting.  

DIY Nipple Clamps and Pegs

This is edging up the kinky scale and something we love.  Tight pressure on nipples is a wonderful turn-on and sometimes enough for orgasm on it’s own never mind during sex. We have a large collection of nipple clamp sex toys including butterfly clamps and various screw clamps but sometimes you can’t beat the humble clothes peg. The tension varies hugely so need to experiment but they are cheap so experiment away - also good to add lots on and make boobs or cocks look like a hedgehog! Also these are great for being part of BDSM and setting challenges as to the number of pegs and time.  Wooden clothes pegs work well but also the slightly more expensive metal ones which tend to have more grip - not as beautiful as the stainless steel nipple pegs we sell but oh so much fun.  You can also use all kind of clips and clamps from DIY stores but might need some fabric to take off the rough edges. 

Rubber bands also work a treat and this is another great challenge for the subs out there building up the number on nipples and being instructed as to how long to keep them on. Obviously again need to experiment with different sizes and tensions - and have scissors ready to cut them off it need be. 

DIY Cock Rings

Well rubber bands work very well as cock rings too although you need to make sure they are not too tight. Orgasms wearing these are different again to standard cock rings and once more please have scissors ready! Just be careful no Bobbit moments. 

Hair bands also work well as they dig in less as thicker than hair bands.  Put aside your inhibitions and experiment.  If you really want to be wild try jubilee clips. These are not great for sex as slightly sharp edges but they work wonders for masturbation or just to make you feel kinky. Put them on when soft, tighten the screw and wait :) Just keep the screwdriver to hand in case too tight. Mr Betty went to bed once wearing and woke up one morning with them too tight and needed to make a mad rush for the tool box! 

Shibari and Restraint

Well obviously there is rope and we love some of the cotton and silk rope in different colours that we sell, but simple natural fibre rope is also wonderful and easy to get from DIY stores. Actually, for some shibari we prefer the natural look and it is far closer to the original kinbaku origins in Japan for restraining prisoners. 

If rope is a bit much then there is always ribbon or tape.  Of course the problem with strong tape like gaffer tape or packaging tapes is that it sticks to skin and hairs and is horrible to remove - think removing a plaster x 100.  Now you can buy bondage tape that sticks on itself in pretty pinks and purples - we tried recently and it works a treat - but if using gaffer tape then just wrap a small towel or handkerchief around first and put the tape around this.  

Straps of course, the type used to secure goods in shipment on a lorry, are brilliant for restraining your loved one so one for perky van and lorry drivers out there. Might know one or two.  

Back indoors try cling film. Very cheap and very easy and not painful to remove.  This isn’t going to work very well for tying wrists to a bed post but it is great for tying arms or legs together or arms to side and fixed to whole body. 

Back on the rope instead of buying expensive leather manacles you can learn to tie a bracelet/cuff  (more on another time but lots of great videos out there) and instead of buying handcuffs you can learn to make a pair of rope handcuffs that will restrain somebody in minutes - and a good party trick to impress your friends.    

Masks and Gags

Well obviously towels and neck ties work as masks but towels for gags work well too.  And back to our old favourites rope and tape. If you can’t get a towel to stay on just tape it up or use tape as a gag for that prisoner look :)  More beautiful, you can use basic rope and learn to make a rope gag and even incorporate wrist restraints.  

DIY Sex Dolls 

Is there such a thing? Somebody must have done something weird. Please let us know below - no shame. Making a hole in a giant Barble or Dumbo soft toy are acceptable answers - no shame here :)

Tools for Impact Play

Well put away your floggers, crops, whips, paddles etc and look around house and garage. How about just a piece of wood? We had some great times with an offcut we saw laying around. For something more precise try a wooden spoon - we’ve seen pictures of lady we know after some spoon treatment and the patterns were beautiful. It was hard to believe that they were made by a humble wooden spoon.  Of course there is a belt too and a host of others things.  Back on rope you could even make your own rope flogger although this does take some time and effort and is not easy.

DIY Fleshlight or Masturbator

On a more lighthearted note you could make a DIY Fleshlight or masturbator. Take some toilets rolls, or something bigger from kitchen paper for you big boys, and cut a slit the full length. Then line inside and out with bubble wrap and lube up generously.  It’s a bit hit and miss but sort of works :) 

Wax and Electro E-Stim Play

No no no - don’t use things around the house for these! Not everyone realises but wax candles used for sexual play have a low melting point. Do not use standard wax candle or you will burn the skin. Get some these lovely wax candles instead :) Ditto for electro play - if done wrong this can be very dangerous of course and best to buy the real equipment designed for this purpose - you won’t go too wrong with a little 9 volt battery but don’t get the car battery out and start going wild! :)
